~ Trip Planning ~

~ Participant Preparation ~
How to Start
Take the first step, pray for peace and guidance for your
venture.
Prepare yourself spiritually and physically.
Spiritual, Emotional, and Physical
Preparation
A mission trip is a time devoted to the Lord and serving his
people. Start preparing by developing your relationship with Christ
now. How much greater the experience could be! Read God’s word,
pray, journal and listen now! The stronger your relationship with
Christ is – the more powerful your trip can be.
Share your plans and expectations with those around you. The
excitement you feel is contagious. Prayer partners are an
excellent source of strength.
Most
trips have a construction focus and temperatures are
tropical. Exercise now so physical barriers do not take away
from your trip. Consult your physician regarding personal
health questions. Also check your health insurance coverage
for travel outside the US. The
Center for Disease
Control web site
contains the latest health alerts.
Financing Your Trip
The cost for each M-G-M participant is approximately
$850-$900. This covers lodging, meals and some travel costs,
(depending on where you are coming from). Fund raising is
easier than you think:
- Hold an informational
meeting or include details of your plans in your church
bulletin or newsletter. Many people who are not able to
participate are enthusiastic to share your experience
through financial and spiritual support.
- Send a fund raising
letter to friends and family. This is a great
opportunity to create awareness and get other people
involved in this fulfilling form of ministry.
- Brainstorm with others
going on the trips to find out what they may be doing.
Do not let financial
resources be the reason for not going. Trust God will
provide the resources.
