~ Sports Clinics ~
Innovative sports clinics (currently baseball and
basketball) provide an evangelistic outreach through
the use of professional and amateur sports
instruction. People of all ages gather to hear the
word of God communicated through sports themes. New
and used equipment is donated from individuals,
churches, and manufactures.

the baseball mission team... |

A typical day with the baseball team starts with the
preparation of food and water required to nourish
our mission team for the day. We climb into the back
of trucks we’ve loaded with food, baseball
equipment, and a public address system. We travel
anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours. After getting
lost a minimum of three times, we arrive at the
first clinic site. We are greeted by 30 to 300 boys,
young men and occasionally girls, who are scattered
across the baseball field waiting for the clinic to
start. In remote towns, schools are sometimes halted
so the kids can attend the event. After two hours of
instruction, one of our missionaries spends 5
minutes talking to the crowd through an interpreter
on a public address system about Jesus and how they
might choose to receive Him as Savior. We pass out
bibles and evangelical tracks written in Spanish. We
arrange in advance for the local pastors to attend
so those who indicate an interest in Christ can meet
the pastors and integrate themselves into the
church.
We bring new and used baseball equipment to pass out
to the pastors who then distribute it to those who
attend the clinics from the church. This equipment
is typically not available to those who attend our
clinics, it is a blessing to give to those in such
need. They repay us with their smiles and gratitude
which words cannot describe. A pastor in San Pedro
has started a baseball league through his church
with the equipment we have provided over the years.
We have seen hundreds profess to receive Jesus as
the conclusion of our Dominican baseball clinics. We
thank God that he has chosen us to be used in this
unique way to bring the Gospel to the remotest parts
of the each and to see the fruit of our labor as
well. We continue to pray for His wisdom, guidance
and blessings. We give Him all the glory. Amen.
