After
breakfast we gather the 20 – 25 VBS helpers
together for prayer. Then we load up our
backpacks with VBS supplies we’ve brought
with us from the States. Some churches are
close so we can walk just a few short
blocks, others require us to travel by
truck. The children in the DR either attend
school in the morning or the afternoon
because of the lack of teachers and
facilities. They are available to attend our
VBS for ˝ day sessions.
We then gather
the children together and through our
interpreters welcome them. Throughout our
session, and with the help of interpreters,
the children will sing songs, learn memory
verses, play games and enjoy snacks. At the
end of the session we gather together again
and pray with the children.
The children are invited to accept Christ
and learn more about the Lord. Local
pastors, interpreters and missionaries are
readily available to talk with the children.
Gift bags with
verse tokens, small gifts and treats are
given to each child.
It’s now lunchtime. The missionaries
enjoy a lunch break and prepare for the
afternoon session.
Our missions teams come from
all over
the United States from varied
backgrounds with different interests and
experiences. What a joy it is to see so many people
come together and work for the Lord!
